Directions to the Grand Island Farm

Directions from Portland to our Grand Island Farm, 18400 Lower Island Rd, Dayton OR 97114

Both Mapquest & Google Maps will tell you to come south on 99E through Tigard. This route is fine, but with any traffic it can be painfully slow and it is not the most scenic.

I’ve included two different sets of directions below. The first one is usually the fastest and the second one is more scenic & fun because you get to take the Wheatland Ferry.

Usually Fastest

  • From Portland take I5 or I205 south
  • Take Exit 278 Donald/Aurora
  • Turn right onto Ehlen Rd NE, go 2.6mi
  • Ehlen Rd NE turns into Yergen Rd NE, go 1.0 mi
  • Yergen Rd NE turns into McKay Rd NE, go 3.4 mi
  • Turn right onto River Rd NE/OR 219, go 4.3 mi
  • This will put you into Newberg. You’ll see Wilco on your right & 2 blocks later turn right onto Villa Rd / OR 219, go 1 block
  • Turn left at the signal onto Portland Rd/OR 99W/OR 219, go 7.0 mi
  • Turn left onto OR 18 W/Dayton Bypass, go 1.3 mi
  • Pass over the Yamhill River and just after the bridge take your first right onto OR 221, go 7.2 Miles. (The road loops around to the right under 99E and takes you into Dayton. Go straight through the stop sign in Dayton and continue  through the beautiful farmland on OR 221/Wallace Rd.
  • Turn left onto SE Grand Island Loop Rd, go 1.3 mi  (Just before the turn you’ll see the Grand Island Grocery on your right)
  • Come over the bridge and onto the island and turn left onto SE Lower Island Rd, go .1mi
  • Our Farm is the first one on your left. Turn into the gate that is just past the big fir tree.

More Scenic – Across the Wheatland Ferry (takes about 10min longer than the route above)
NOTE: Ferry costs $2 per car and is open 6am – 9:30pm

  • From Portland take I5 or I205 South
  • Take Exit 263 Brooks/Gervis
  • Turn right onto Brooklake Rd NE, go 1.7 mi
  • At the T turn right onto Wheatland Rd N, go 3.2 mi
  • After the S curves, turn left onto Wheatland Ferry Rd
  • Take the Ferry (see above)
  • Go straight off the ferry onto Wheatland Rd NW, go 1.1 mi
  • Turn right onto Wallace Rd NW/OR 221, go 2.4mi
  • Turn right onto SE Grand Island Loop, go 1.3mi (if you pass Grand Island Grocery on your left, you’ve gone too far)
  • Come over the bridge and onto the island and turn left onto SE Lower Island Rd, go .1mi
  • Our Farm is the first one on your left. Turn into the gate that is just past the big fir tree.
