In Your Share (Feb 2nd edition)
This week your share may include…
- Beets: These Lutz beets are the only ones that can last through the winter, but even they have struggled with the weather. Still, we managed to find quite a few out there that were still going strong.
- Carrots: Bolero winter carrots are so sweet after all that snow!
- Collards: Finally we have a few greens. This winter has been hard on them, but these stalwart Flash and Top Bunch varieties have pulled through.
- Garlic: A mix of softneck storage varieties
- Onions: This year we’re participating in an organic onion variety trial with OSU and lots of other farmers. They tell me there are varieties out there that are even better than our favorite yellow storage onion Copra, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
- Parsnips: Dagger is a new variety for us and it’s looking good. The roots are GIANT, pretty disease resistant and very tasty!
- Potatoes: Yellow’s and a few fingerlings
- Squash: Delicata & Sweet Dumpling – always a crowd pleaser!
