In Your Share (June 29th edition)
Butterhead lettuce is a real treat in this summer heat! I’m thinking about making lots of different salads this week – as you can see from my recipe ideas below. Potato salad, Soba noodle salad, & tabbouleh are all going to feature prominently on my menu over the next few days. CSA Members can access lots of recipes for salad and so much more at Cook With What You Have. Check your email for the password to the site and enjoy your 24/7 access to recipe inspiration!
This week your share may include…
- Chard: This is simple to salute or if you’re feeling more ambitious try my grandmothers chard bisque
- Fava Beans: Take them out of the pod, boil them, slip off the second skin, salute with salt & olive oil and maybe a few herbs and enjoy one of life’s simple (but hard won) pleasures! Or cook them whole in the pod.
- Joi Choi: Looking forward to making this soba noodle salad.
- Kohlrabi: With the leaves on they look slightly alien but peeled and chopped they taste delicious!
- Lettuce: Butterhead lettuce is one of my favorites – so tender & tasty!
- Onions: Big beautiful sweet walla’s
- New Potatoes: Very excited about these beautiful little new Carola potatoes – the skin is so thin it may have peeled off already. I’m definitely making potato salad this weekend!
- Parsley: I’m a big fan of Yotam Ottolenghi and his tabbouleh is one of my favorites
- Summer Squash: The first of the season!
Coming soon… Green Beans!
